Week Two, Term 2

Kia ora  and welcome to Week Two

The children have settled back really well into our routines and there is a really happy and busy learning vibe in our space. Thank you for your support during our busy first week.

Thursday 8th May

A reminder that the teachers will be at a Paid Union meeting on Thursday 8th May. You are welcome to pick your child up at any time from 12.30 onwards.  If you are unable to collect your child until 3p.m, please advise your HomeBase teacher, as there will only be limited supervision available at school.

Friday 9th May 12 noon- Timatanga Assembly

Our first Timatanga assembly for Term 2  will be hosted by L2 this week. All parents and whānau are most welcome to attend in the hall on Friday 9th May at 12 noon.

Family Photos

Please come in and have a look at our whares in our Whānau corner and scan the QR code to listen to your child's pepeha- they have worked really hard on combining on the elements of Visual art, Digital literacy and Te Re If you haven't sent in a family photo yet, we would love  it if you could,- a digital copy to your teacher is fine also!

Winter Sausage Sizzle on Fridays.

Children will order in the morning in each Home Base. Sausages are still $2 and there are also gluten-free options available. Your child will be able to collect their sausage at lunchtime in their home base.

On rainy days, if your child does wear gumboots to school, please can you also send a pair of slippers for them to be able to wear within the Learning space. Much more comfy for them!

BUG CLUB

If you have a mobile device you can use a QR Scan App to link to the Bug Club website or you can click on the bug club icon down the side of the Year 2 Blog page, or click here.

Bug Club will have online reading books assigned to each student for their home reading. Once a week, instead of reading with a teacher students will have time to read on Bug Club in class. This can also be their home learning as the website can be accessed on any device from home also. Bug Club books will match reading levels as they are in class. Students have a free choice numerous titles through their Bug club account.

For more information click here for our initial blog post originally shared when we started the Bug Club program at Thorrington School.

LIBRARY DAY

A reminder that this is every Tuesday - children can drop their library folders off into the post box during the week or on Tuesdays post their books and leave their library bags on the top on the curved wooden desk.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us via email or in person.

 Kind regards

 Wendy, Andrea and Sarah
