Weekly Update Term 2 Week 9

Week 9

It has been a busy week in the L Block. We have been busy digging deeper into our inquiry as well as working hard at our reading, writing and maths. 

Matariki

This week is Matariki (celebrated on June 25th). It celebrates the Maori New Year. On Wednesday we learnt the "Matariki Makarena" to remember the names of the 7 stars of Matariki. We followed the video below, have a go at home together!

• Mrs Rodda is out of the class Tuesday so Mrs C-B will be in L2

Weekly Update Term 2 Week 8

What a Week ...

It has been business as usual in the Year 2 space this week! We have been lucky enough to have Lesley Earnshaw in our space as a student teacher for the last 7 weeks. Today is her last day and the Year 2 children decided to put on a show for her after lunch. It was a special treat to remember us by 😉

We wish Lesley all the best for the rest of her studies!

Week 9 Dates:

• Assembly - Monday, 2.20pm in the Year 2 Space
• Mr Scurr will be out of the class Tuesday for his role as the Lead Teacher of Timatanga. Mrs C-B will be in L1
• All of the Year 2 teachers will be out of the class on Wednesday afternoon. We will be meeting with the rest of Timatanga to plan for Term 3
• Library days are as normal:
• L1 - Monday
• L2 - Tuesday
• L3 - Wednesday

Weekly Update Term 2 Week 7

Kia Ora and Welcome to Week 8!

This week we have been really busy with Book Week! 

We have had some exciting people come and read with us after morning tea, some of us visited the library after school on Wednesday and had our afternoon tea while we read! We got to find out how Puss and Boots solved the case of where baby bear was...

We also dressed up and got to share our costumes with the school, see the pictures below of some of our costumes:

Next week we welcome Miss Dobbie to the Year 2 space as a student teacher who will be working with us for the next two weeks.

Mr Scurr will be out of the class and offsite on Tuesday (helping the band at the music festival) Philip Bull will be in L1.

L3 Assembly - on Monday - Starting at 2.20pm in the Year 2 space

Sausage Sizzle on Friday - $2 per sausage to be handed in before school 

Library days are back to normal -

L1 = Monday

L2 = Tuesday

L3 = Wednesday

Weekly Update Term 2 Week 6

Thanks for the parent helpers who made the time to come to Ernle Clark Reserve (or are going tomorrow with L3), what a great experience to help us learn more about our Turangawaewae!

Looking ahead to week 7:

Because of the Puss and Boots performance there we will not running our reading program as usual. So no Reading books will come home on Tuesday.

Sausage Sizzle of Friday - $2 per sausage to be handed in before school, please note that if you are in L3 you will not be able to have a sausage sizzle as you will be on your class trip!

Raffle

Please return tickets sold with monies, along with any unsold tickets, in a named envelope to the raffle box in the office.  We have a number of unsold returned tickets, if you are able to sell more tickets please emailquiz@thorrington.ac.nz and we will get these to you.

Weekly Update Term 2 Week 5

Wow, half way through the term already, time flies when you are having fun! 

Here are a couple of reminders:

Tomorrow Friday 2 June 2017 is a Teacher Only Day so school will be closed as teachers will be working off site for the day, remember there will be no sausage sizzle this week.

This coming Monday 5 June 2017 is Queen's Birthday so enjoy the extra long weekend, there will be no assembly next week.

Mr Scurr has got some offsite lead teacher learning next week and will be out of the class (he will be going with L1 to Ernle Clark Reserve on Wednesday however) as usual Jo CB will be in L1 next week.

Next week Year 2 have some exciting stuff happening, on Friday we will be heading to see Mahatihi in the hall. We are also becoming explorers at Ernle Clark Reserve, see below for dates and times:
