Weekly Update Term 2 Week 4

Here are some messages regarding the week ahead in Year 2. 

L2  Assembly on Monday - Start at 2.20pm in the Year 2 space


Sausage Sizzle of Fridays - $2 per sausage to be handed in before school

Library days as usual 
L1 = Monday
L2 = Tuesday
L3 = Wednesday 

A time to Negotiate (Sorting Activity)

This week we used some of the photos we took from our trip to the Ernle Park Reserve. We placed them into groups that we thought they matched. Then we drew lines to connect them to other groups. 

Some of our groups were 'Trees', 'River', Plants and 'Animal Homes'. We had to communicate with each other and negotiate why we thought each picture should go into a group. 

This group decided to vote on which picture should go where. It was pretty tricky getting everybody to agree. Lots of the pictures could have gone in more than one group. 

We drew arrows to show this.

Weekly Update - Term 2 Week 3

Kia Ora Whanau, 

Here are some messages regarding the week ahead in Year 2. It will be a relatively quiet week compared to Week 2. We will be back into our regular routine and following up on our exciting Field Trip to Ernle Reserve. 

A big thank you to all the parent helpers and supporters who came along, you made it really special for the students. 

Well done all Year 2 for their Cross Country efforts, it was great to see people setting themselves goals and really trying to complete the course as best they could.

Our School Trip to Ernle Reserve!

A big thank you to all of the parents that came along and helped out. It really made a big difference to our learning with some great conversations being had as we walked though the track.

We traced our foot prints and then ordered them in small groups, we sorted the longest and the narrowest. 

Then we sorted the whole of Year 2 into size order! 

Great job Year 2! - you compared, discussed and tested to find out where your foot should go on  the scale. A great opportunity to Relate To Others, Think and Communicate!

L3 Hosting Assembly

Kia Ora! 

Timatanga Assembly is back up and running for Term 2 with L3 hosting this week. Assembly starts at 2.20pm but we suggest getting there at 2.15pm to get a seat. As always, assembly will be held in the Year 2 Learning Space.

Cross Country on Tuesday 11am - 12pm - see letter that went home - below is the proposed line up of events 

The order of races will be:

Year 2 boys - 2 laps

Year 2 girls  - 2 laps

Year 1 boys  - 2 laps

Year 1 girls  - 2 laps

Year 0 - 1 lap

Year 3 boys - 3 laps

Year 3 girls - 3 laps

Year 4 boys - 3 laps

Year 4 girls - 3 laps

Year 2 Class Trip - on Wednesday 11am - 12pm - parent help required see letter that went home last week

Parent Forum - on Wednesday 7pm - 8pm in the staff room. this week will cover Assessment and Reporting - all are welcome!
