Calendar Art
Year 2 are busy creating their Calendar Art for this year - soon pieces will be on show for you to see and make your orders.

Discovery Day:
We had a great day on Friday with our first Whole School Discovery Day - our follow up will be two more Fridays of Whole School Ignite. As usual for Timatanga, students have chosen their favourite area to explore further. Your child may wish to bring in some materials for these two days, please check with them in advance. Week 2 Dates:

• Library: A change up for L1 due to an extra Ignite planning session on Monday. 
• L2 - Tuesday
• L3 - Wednesday
• L1 - Thursday
• The Year 2 Teachers will be out on Tuesday all day as part of our Professional development. We will spend the time discussing and designing learning experiences for Year 2 to implement during the rest of the year 
• Carl will be out of the class on Wednesday for his ICT work. Anne McIntyre will be in L1 until lunchtime as Jo CB is away. 
• Whole School Ignite - On Friday we will be having the first of our two Whole School Ignite sessions that crosses the whole school. Students will have chosen their area of interest based on last week's Whole School Discovery Session

Welcome to Term 3

Welcome back to Term 3! 

We hope you had an enjoyable break and managed to stay warm and dry! 

Important Notice: 
Because of the wet weather we are experiencing at the moment, we are going to be shoe-free in the space for this term. We are hoping this will stop the mud (and other things) building up on the carpet and be more pleasant for us to work in. The children can leave their shoes under their bag and we strongly encourage slippers being brought to wear inside. 

Welcome:
Welcome to Amy Robinson who will be joining the Year 2 Team for the next 5 weeks. Amy is studying teaching at the University of Canterbury and on her final placement with us.

Year 2 Running Super Stars!

At the end of last term we had a team of Year 2s represent Thorrington School at the Cross Country Challenge. The children all our school very proud.

Congratulations to Josh who came 2nd in the Year 2 Boys race and our Year 2 boys who came 1st in the team event!
