Teacher Strike Day:
In week 5 primary and secondary teachers will be going on strike Wednesday 29th of May. Please be prepared for the school to be closed on this day. Please understand that we fully appreciate that this is an inconvenience for you, but we are fully committed to our passion for providing every child with the opportunities and quality education they deserve. We have tried so many other avenues with no success, that strike action is now one of few avenues left for our voices to be heard.

Trash Lab:
Parent volunteers are desperately needed to help with the lunchtime Trash Lab. The Trash Lab is well loved by the children and we need your help to keep it running.  This involves being at school once a month or even once a term from 12.30-1.30pm. We will work in with what best suits you.
To go on the roster, if you have any questions, or would like to pop down one lunchtime to see what it’s all about please email thorringtontrashlab@gmail.com

Some key dates to be aware of:
Teacher Strike Day - 29th May
Cluster Teacher Only Day - Friday 31 May. The school will be closed on this day.
Sausage Sizzle - Every Friday $2 per sausage (Gluten Free option available)
Library Day is each Tuesday.

Growth Inquiry and Family Photos
Many thanks to all of you who have sent in their wnānau photo and a baby photo. Our displays are starting to look beautiful with all our whānau and tamariki on the walls!
Does anyone have access to borrowing or hiring any of the below that we need for our Growth inquiry please. Anything would be much appreciated!

  • Egg incubators
  • Heat emitting lamps with reflectors
  • Cardboard large appliance boxes (e.g. fridge)
  • Untreated wood shavings
We have been doing some great learning about Life cycles of Plants, Birds and Humans. Please ask your child to share what they have been discussing. Below are some photos of some of our children showing the life cycle of a bird through drama and dance. They had a lot of fun!

We have also been having some awesome discussions and sharing with each other about what a plant needs to grow. Ask us- we might be able to teach you something!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do come in and see us or make an appointment to catch up, either before or after school.

 Have a happy week
Wendy, Andrea and Sarah.
