Collaborative Writing!
This week we have started a writing project with the whole of Year 2!
We got into pairs and watched a short silent film of images telling a moving story about dogs helping each other.
By working together we are relating to others. We did some thinking about what this means when we are writing with our buddy.
Here is the silent film we all watched
After watching we used this activity sheet to put ourselves in the place of the characters
Here are some ideas we came up with altogether before we started thinking with our buddy
Here we are learning collaboratively by sharing ideas and listening to each other

Here are some examples from HB8!
How Maui Slowed the Sun
Some great story book art in HB8!
As part of inquiry last term we looked at Maori art and motifs - especially the Koru . We also read the Maori Legend 'How Maui Slowed The Sun'
We drew our own suns with vivid marker and then we painted with dye. We drew silhouettes of Maui and his four brothers. We then learned how to finger knit so that we could make ropes that Maui used to catch the sun.
